FORMER Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili should consider taking a sabbatical leave from politics and consider making full recovery because his health has not been very good in the recent past, Lunte Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has advised.
Mr. Kafwaya said Mr. Kambwili was indeed a political heavy weight but that his health was failing him hence the clarion call for him to at least take a break so that he could make full recovery.
He said Mr. Kambwili, who is currently admitted at Milpark Hospital in South Africa after he fell ill while in prison, needed to introspect about his political career.
He said politics was a tiresome undertaking and one needed to have a thick skin and of good health to continue providing checks and balances and mobilise the party.
“I just want to urge my brother to really think through his stance and for me I would advise him to at least make full recovery,” Mr. Kafwaya said.
On calls by certain sections of society the Head of State to pardon Mr. Kambwili, Mr Kafwaya said that the former lawmaker needed to withdraw the appeal so that maybe he might be pardoned.
He said that it would be a good thing if the Head of State considered pardoning him on medical grounds because his condition was not good but that Mr. Kambwili must consider withdrawing the appeal.
He said that it would be a good thing if the Head of State looked at Mr. Kambwili’s situation because his condition precipitated by medical ailments was not conducive for the environment in prison.
“I would be very happy if President Hakainde Hichilema pardoned Mr. Kambwili because he is really not okay and does not need to be in that place,” he said.
And Mr Kafwaya said that he was sure that Mr. Kambwili would make full recovery because the country needed him since he was more like an encyclopedia of politics.
