THOSE calling for the reinstatement of former president Edgar Lungu’s security and official motor vehicle are misplaced because they need to change the law first, Minister of Information Cornelius Mweetwa has said.
Mr. Mweetwa in an interview said that it was wrong for people to start calling for the reinstatement of Mr. Lungu’s security and vehicle when the law was very clear.
He said that it was very disappointing that people who he claimed were hired guns were calling for Mr. Lungu’s benefits by trying to create an impression that the Head of State was not a good man.
He said that such a proposal was supposed to be taken to Parliament where they needed to change the law rather than stifling and causing confusion.
“It is very wrong for people to start calling for the reinstatement of Mr. Lungu’s benefits because he has publicly declared that he wants to join politics,” MrMweetwa said.
He said that it was wrong for the former Head of State to even entertain such people because he was aware of what the law indicated.
He said that the problem was that people wanted to paint President Hakainde Hichilema badly but that the PF were the ones that actually crafted the law.
He also charged that it was also wrong for people to call for the pardon of former Roan Member of Parliament ChishimbaKambwili because he had appealed.
He said that Mr. Kambwili had appealed the matter and that he was still deemed innocent until proven innocent.
“It is wrong for people to propagate that Mr. Kambwili be pardoned because he has appealed his case,” he said.
He said that the problem was that people were trying to politicise the matter which was very unfortunate because the law was very clear.
