FORMER United Nations Independence Party (UNIP) president Tilyenji Kaunda says he will not return to active politics.
Mr. Kaunda served as UNIP for a decade before he was defeated in the intra party by Bishop Trevor Mwamba
Speaking in an interview with The Scoop, Mr Kaunda said he has moved on from politics.
“Your grandfather (first Republican President Kenneth Kaunda) said to me that there are many ways to serve man than in politics. Now that he is gone, I am concentrating on the work that he left behind,” he said.
He said he had formed a new foundation that will move his father’s legacy forward.
The former UNIP president said he formed a new foundation that will move his father’s legacy forward.
“One of the original targets, physical targets that freedom fighters set, was that of an egg for every child every morning. So, we can say that has been accomplished. We want to join many people who are doing great works for children in the community. We want to do that,” he said.
He said a lot of things in the fight against HIV had been done but that there is a need for permanent solutions for the African Child so that the scourge could be nipped in the bud.
We want to promote education. We also want to promote what your grandfather loved, which is the love for soil. Soil is not dirty, soil is life. So, we are going to do all these things with other stakeholders and hope we can uplift the African Child to where he should be,” he stated.
