PAMBASHE Member of Parliament Ronald Chitotela has urged President Hakainde Hichilema to tune his ministers to follow his good vision for Zambia, saying he is being let down by the very lieutenants who should have been in the forefront by executing their duties diligently.
Mr. Chitotela said that it was the duty of President Hichilema to ensure that his ministers were following his vision if he was to deliver.
He said that the Head of State had scored a number of successes in developing the country using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and that the ministers needed to ensure that they worked in tandem with him.
He said that the ministers were the torch-bearers and that they needed to carry the President’s vision and explain it to the people but that this was not the case.
“I want to urge the President to whip his lieutenants so that they follow his vision because failure to do so has led to negativity in the development of the country because they are not carrying his vision,” Mr. Chitotela said.
And Mr. Chitotela called on law enforcement agencies not to wait for the Government officials to leave office for them to institute corruption investigations.
He said that institutions like the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) needed to be proactive and institute investigations on serving ministers who were suspected to be involved in corrupt activities.
He said that there was no need for the law enforcement agencies to wait for ministers to leave office before instituting investigations because there was nothing special about them.
“I want to urge the law enforcement agencies to institute investigations on serving ministers if they are suspected of practicing corruption,” he said.
Mr. Chitotela indicated that the time he was minister, investigations were instituted against him and that he complied.
He said that the law enforcement agencies needed to stop shielding people just because they were in power because this was wrong and had grave consequences.
