POLICE in Kasumbalesa have apprehended a group of seven “expatriate” junkies from the Democratic Republic of Congo commonly known as Vagabonds.
Copperbelt police commissioner Peacewell Mweemba said the seven were arrested for assault.
Mr. Mweemba explained that on October 10, 2024, the septet wanted to steal fruits from Andrew Musonda aged 42 a marketeer at Kasumbalesa.
In the process of trying to prevent them, they descended on and started beating him using fists and sticks, in the process, assaulting a woman identified as Precious Chabu aged 32.
Quick reaction by the police and members of the public led to the apprehension of the suspects and the police commissioner said the juvenile suspects are currently in police custody.
