THE Forfeiture of millions of Kwacha and Assets to the State is an indication of Governments efforts in mending economic leakages, Economist, Kelvin Chisanga has said.
Speaking to the Scoop, Mr. Chisanga said such a major move would help the Government create confidence around public finance which was a key complimenting factor of what had been transpiring in terms of economic leakages.
Mr. Chisanga said that people in Government offices need to practice high standards of ethics and ensure the right attitude towards government resources.
He said money being surrendered to the state would also help in widening the country’s basket around taxation.
“People will be able to give taxes from different points, and to avoid issues of having multiplicity in terms of taxes, this will also create a conducive and prudent method around resources,” Mr. Chisanga said.
He emphasized that it was imperative to take care of Public Affairs Assets, which tend to impact the country’s economy and citizens at large.
He has since called on Government workers to avoid economic leakages that arise from corruption practices.
He added that Government workers are meant to operate around the interest of the country, unlike personal interests and desires.
Government has of late engaged in the forfeiture of millions of Kwacha and assets to the state as recoveries from corruption cases.
