STANDARD Chartered Bank Zambia, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sonny Zulu has been recognized as one of the Top 25 finance leaders in Africa by African Leadership Magazine (ALM) in their prestigious 2024 awards.

Standard Chartered Bank Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing (Zambia & Southern Africa) Christine Matambo told The Scoop that this recognition honoured and celebrated visionary leaders who were at the forefront of driving Africa’s economic growth and development.

Ms. Maambo said the accolade included leaders from various sectors of the finance industry, ranging from finance ministers to central bank governors and CEOs of commercial banks, all of whom had made remarkable strides in enhancing national economic prospects and fostering business growth despite formidable challenges.

“Under Sonny’s dynamic leadership, Standard Chartered Bank Zambia has become a trusted digital first partner for businesses, investors, and individuals seeking to unlock their full potential. His strategic vision and unwavering commitment have significantly contributed to the bank’s success and its positive impact on the Zambian economy.

“Sonny has also continued to support and lend his voice to many topical issues on the local front, never shying away from providing informative presentations at numerous forums,” Ms. Matambo said.

And commenting on his recognition, the Standard Chartered Bank CEO, expressed his gratitude, saying it was an honour to be among the giants of Africa.

“This acknowledgment is a testament to the collective efforts of the entire team at Standard Chartered Bank Zambia, and I am proud to represent our commitment to driving economic growth and fostering financial prosperity,” Mr. Mulenga said.
