IN a responsive effort to aid Zambia’s ongoing battle against the cholera outbreak, Termites Meat Suppliers Limited has made a notable contribution of essential supplies to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU).

Yesterday’s handover ceremony in Lusaka saw the company donating items valued at K100,000, affirming its commitment to public health and community wellbeing.

At the event, Mr. Chishala Malekano, Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager at Termites Meat Suppliers, spoke about the critical nature of the cholera pandemic and its impact on local communities.

“We are facing a significant challenge, particularly in our more vulnerable areas,” Malekano stated, underscoring the urgency for a united approach to combat the outbreak.

The company’s donation, which includes work suits, chlorine, gumboots, and PVC gloves, was received by Mr. Paul Samboko, DMMU Director for Disaster Humanitarian and Operations Management.

In representing Dr. Gabriel Pollen and the DMMU, operating under the auspices of the Vice President’s office, Mr. Samboko expressed gratitude for the donation.

“This support from Termites Meat Suppliers is invaluable in bolstering our efforts against cholera,” said Samboko, acknowledging the importance of such partnerships in national health initiatives.

“This gesture highlights Termites Meat Suppliers’ dedication to social responsibility and its active role within the Zambian community,” Mr. Malekano remarked, emphasizing the company’s longstanding commitment to quality, safety, and public health initiatives.

The ceremony also called for collaborative action among various sectors. Malekano emphasized the importance of partnership between government, NGOs, community groups, businesses, and individuals in upholding hygiene standards and ensuring timely healthcare access.

Under the stewardship of Dr.Gabriel Pollen, National Coordinator for the DMMU, the donated resources are set to be effectively utilized. Termites Meat Suppliers has pledged ongoing support, enhancing the collaborative efforts between corporate entities and government agencies in strengthening public health measures.

This contribution positions Termites Meat Suppliers as a proactive participant in addressing national health emergencies, demonstrating their steadfast commitment to the health and safety of the Zambian people.
