By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE Government should not be segregated and give prominence to only the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) at the expense of other tribes in Western Province, The Nkoya Royal Establishment (NRE) has charged.

Speaking to The Scoop, NRE member David Tamboka said it was unfortunate that the Government was giving too much attention to the BRE when dealing with issues pertaining to Western Province.

Mr. Tambuka said it was unfortunate that the Government was overlooking the other tribes which were in the province and only gave relevance to the BRE.

He said that the BRE was not the only entity in Western Province and that the province comprised a number of different tribes.

“It is very unfortunate that the Government does not consider other tribes in the province apart from the Lozi’s and this has caused confusion in the region,” Mr. Tamboka said.

He said that Western Province comprised various tribes which also played a very important role and that it was only prudent for the Government to accord them the same respect and acknowledgement.

He said the NRE had nothing against the BRE but that they needed to consider the broader perspective which in this instance, was Zambia as a country.

“Truly, I have nothing against the BRE but what we are calling for is equality. We should be treated equally and the Government should not be seen to be favouring only one group when we have quite a number of tribes in the province,” he said.

He said that the other tribes were equally important and that the Government needed to ensure that it came up with another province because the province was too big.

He also suggested that President Hakainde Hichilema needed to consider making Kafue Province which could encompass part of Western Province to improve on administration.

“I have for some time called for the creation of a new province since Western is very big and needs to be divided,” he said.
