DOCTOR SHOOTS, KILLS HIMSELF

A MEDICAL doctor from Mufulira’s Ndeke village yesterday killed himself in an incident which happened around 11:00 when he turned a gun against himself.  

George Chansa Mukupa, who is believed to be working at Kitwe Teaching Hospital, had locked himself inside the house and committed suicide by shooting himself.

Copperbelt Police commissioner Peacewell Mweemba said police officers rushed to the scene and observed that the pump action shotgun was tied to the window burglar rods, whilst the deceased was lying on the floor facing down.

Mr. Mweemba said there was blood on the wall to the area which was improvised as the gym which is literally a toilet in the master bedroom. He said the body was inspected and a gunshot wound was found in the middle of the chest.

“The body has been taken to Ronald Ross Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. No foul play suspected,” Mr. Mweemba said.
