The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has praised President Hakainde Hichilema for emphasizing the crucial role of education in national development.
NAQEZ Director of Media and Advocacy, Peter Kalenga stated that President Hichilema’s announcement during his address to Parliament last Friday, regarding the plan to recruit more teachers this year compared to the previous year, is a significant leap towards addressing the current teacher-learner ratio, particularly in rural schools.
“As advocates for quality education in Zambia, NAQEZ will closely monitor the 2024 teacher recruitment process, the supply of desks, the expansion of the school feeding program, and the government’s commitment to improving teacher motivation,” said Mr Kalenga.
He also highlighted the President’s commitment to continuing the supply of desks to schools and expanding the school feeding program, both of which are essential for enhancing the quality of education in the country.
President Hichilema discussed several government programs during the opening of the 4th session of the 13th National Assembly, emphasizing that education remains a high priority on the development agenda.
