POLICE in Lusaka have arrested former Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo who they pulled out of the ceiling of his house in which he was hiding.
This follows his recent conviction by the Luanshya Magistrate Court for the offence of unlawful wounding in absentia in which a bench warrant was issued by the court to ensure his apprehension and subsequent presentation before the court, as required by law.
Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga says in line with its duty to uphold court directives, the Zambia Police Service commenced an immediate search for Mr. Lusambo to effect the court’s order.
“Today, officers successfully located and apprehended Mr. Lusambo at his residence, where he was found hiding in the ceiling.
“The Zambia Police Service remains committed to enforcing the law impartially and ensuring that justice is served without fear or favour. Mr. Lusambo is now in police custody and will be presented to the court as directed by the bench warrant,” Mr. Hamoonga said.
He urged the public to respect the rule of law and cooperate with law enforcement officers as they work to maintain peace, law and order in the country.
