THE National Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has commended the Government for considering the inclusion of values, principles, and morals in the new education curriculum in Zambia.
In an interview, NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa said the development was a great milestone and extremely important not only for the education sector, but also for the country because it will have a huge impact at personal and community level.
Dr. Chansa said these inclusions will help to address disgruntled behaviour especially among the young people who were in the habit of disrespecting elders and others.
He noted that it was dangerous for the country to have citizens, especially the youths, who were slowly losing morals by engaging in illicit activities such as drug and alcohol abuse.
He observed that the education sector was very important in bringing upright and moral giants in any society.
“With these inclusions, we are hoping principles and morals are being exercised and practiced. We want national unity, no hate speech and we don’t want tribal talks. All we want is to see everyone come together and it must start with the schooling system,” Dr. Chansa said.
