THE Government should identify an impartial stakeholder that will mediate in the ongoing Barotseland issue, Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ) president Jackson Silavwe has advised.
Mr. Silavwe said that the Government needed to choose a stakeholder like the church to help resolve the issue which had been brewing for some time.
He said the unresolved Barotseland issue was a significant obstacle requiring immediate attention through respectful dialogue and, if necessary, external mediation.
He lamented the recent loss of lives and incarceration of individuals in Mongu, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolution through dialogue.
Asserting Zambia’s reputation as a beacon of peace and stability, Mr. Silavwe criticized President Hakainde Hichilema’s pronouncement that there was no state in Zambia called Barotseland.
He warned that such actions threatened the nation’s peace and security and should not be allowed to see the light of the day.
