UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy National Youth Chairperson Trevor Mwiinde has emerged as one of the challengers to Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa in the race for the Choma Central Constituency.
Speaking in an interview with The Scoop, Mr. Mwiinde said he aspired to serve the people of Choma Central as their Member of Parliament and consequently contribute to the welfare of the country.
He said while certain politicians changed the goalposts once elected into office and started serving their interest, he promised he would not be in Parliament to satisfy his belly.
“We are not in politics to only satisfy individual interests on a day to day basis,” Mr. Mwiinde said.
He said he will only indulge in clean politics devoid of hate-speech and character assassination.
“On an individual level as I have aspirations to stand in Constituency called Choma, I will not be in a position to do antagonistic politics or destabilize the progress of work. I must learn and respect the valuable input of those that have held that office including the incumbent,” he said.
He said he would play politics of soberness and respect in recognition of others either their strength or weaknesses so that together they could contribute to the greater growth of the country.
