WE are not shaken by the defection of Patrick Samwimbila from the Patriotic Front (PF) to the United Party for National Development (UPND) because he was just an ordinary member, Lusaka Province PF chairperson Christopher Shakafuswa has said.
Mr. Shakafuswa explained that the 2021 losing Munali candidate was not even an active member and that his defection had no impact on the party.
He stated that the party was still intact and that more people were coming to join the former ruling party, rendering Mr. Samwimbila’s departure meaningless to the party, adding that it was his democratic right to belong to any political party of his choice.
He said on the contrary to assertions that the PF under former president Edgar Lungu was dying, the party was doing well and that the rebranding process had reached a crescendo as it was mobilizing across the country.
“Mr Samwimbila was just an ordinary member who did not even contribute a lot to the party. Therefore, his going will not shake the party’s operations because he did not bring anything constructive to the party,” Mr. Shakafuswa said.
He called on all party members to remain focused and be loyal to the party leadership and not shaken by such unnecessary moves.
