WE never ferried any party cadres from the time we were in opposition to date during events to fake our popularity, United Party for National Development (UPND) Lusaka Province Chairman Obvious Mwaliteta has told former president Edgar Lungu’s political advisor Zumani Zimba.

Mr. Mwaliteta in an interview said he could not understand why the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) wanted to bring confusion when it was not necessary.

He said it was shocking the way some PF members had been attacking the Government baselessly without realising that Zambians were still injured and traumatised by the things they went through during the PF’s tyrannical reign.

He said PF should not become so comfortable because people’s memories were still fresh about their being ruthless and how innocent people were subjected to torture emotionally.

He noted that Zambian people still had hope that UPND would deliver according to their campaign promises because President Hakainde Hichilema meant well for the people.

He said it was disturbing that the PF had failed to accept that they were no longer in power but were making noise so that they could be seen to be popular when in fact not.

“UPND cannot ferry cadres because numbers speak for themselves. People of Eastern have found peace and harmony in the UPND Government,” Mr. Mwaliteta said.

He stated that Zambians had not forgotten how PF cadres took over the markets and bus stops, beating up people and grabbing land from vulnerable people across the country.

He explained that UPND was not a small party which could sink low and start ferrying party supporters from one place to another.

He advised the opposition PF to give space to President Hichilema so that he could work in peace, adding that the UPND was just in power for less than three years for such criticism.

He was responding to former political advisor to former President Edgar Lungu Zumani Zimba who alleged that the UPND were ferrying youths into Chipata Eastern Province to show fake popularity for President Hichilema on Youth Day.
