THE Zambia national mixed arts team is ready to compete against the best athletes from across the continent, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) president Benjamin Bush has said.
Bush said the team is in Namibia in preparation for the Africa Championship which kick-starts today.
He said such a milestone reflects the commitment to promoting inclusivity and nurturing young talent within the sport.
“We are excited and ready to compete against the best athletes across the continent. This year is particularly special for us because for the first time, we are including two female athletes and one youth athlete in our championship squad.
“Our team has been training rigorously, and we are confident that we will represent Zambia with pride and perform to the best of our abilities. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts for their invaluable support to facilitate the team’s travel and their assistance has been instrumental in making this trip possible,” Bush said.
He also thanked the dedicated coaches for their incredible commitment and expertise in preparing the athletes for the prestigious competition.
“Their hard work and dedication have been pivotal in shaping our team and ensuring that we are ready to face our competitors. The support from sponsors was an indication that Zambia can replicate the fighting spirit of the country in other sporting disciplines at the championships,” he said.
