NATIONAL Division 1 League newly-promoted side Ndola United football club General Secretary Danny Mpasa says his team’s focus is to work hard and compete for the title.
Speaking in an interview, Mpasa said the team’s focus was not only to stay in the National League, but also compete for the title.
He appreciated the support that the team had been receiving during the play offs adding that it had been overwhelming.
He said Ndola United was a big brand and one of the pioneer teams in Zambian football hence it was slowly reviving its old glory.
The club General Secretary stated that the team had also reactivated its fan base, noting that the fans’ expectations both within and internationally were high.
He said the expectations from the fans and management was that the team advanced to top flight football.
“We expect not only to see the team stay in Division 1, but a team that is going to be competitive and compete for the title. The players are much alive to these facts and are determined to work extra hard.
“So far, no new players have been recruited but technical staff will advise. Most likely, we may need one or two players because the league we are going in requires high levels of preparedness and skills so fans should not be surprised when we bring new players,” he said.
He said the Ndola City Council-sponsored side was working on modalities to bring in more sponsors on board owing to the fact that the National League required a huge budget.
