An epoch-making moment in Zambian sports history is upon us as “Cobra Dante” Humphrey Mulenga stands on the precipice of tremendous glory at EFC 115 on July 11th.
In the biggest combat sports promotion on the African continent, the Extreme Fighting Championship, Mulenga will challenge Igeu “Smiley” Kabesa for the coveted lightweight title in a battle beamed live on SuperSport HD across the world.
MMA president Benjamin Bush disclosed that as a monumentally historic occasion marking the first time a Zambian professional mixed martial artist has fought for a major championship, shattering barriers and propelling the nation’s combat sports prowess onto the global stage.
A victory for Mulenga would etch his name amongst Zambian sporting legends and open doors to even greater heights in the world’s premier MMA promotions.
The head coach and instructor at the esteemed Ulemu Fight Academy, Mulenga’s journey has been fuelled by an unwavering warrior spirit and sharpened through intense preparation alongside the Zambian national team. Fresh from their own historic triumph at the Africa Championships in Windhoek, Namibia, where they captured one gold, two silvers, and two bronze medals, the national team’s success has further stoked Mulenga’s fires.
On this same epic EFC 115 card, Zambian featherweight prospect Ken “The Take Over” Sekeletu (3-0 as a pro) will also take to the cage, battling the dangerous South African Nkosi “The Disaster” Doyisa, further exemplifying the nation’s rising combat sports talents.
