“We will not stop talking about the corruption that has robbed the Zambian people of its resources,” says political activist Dante Saunders.

Mr. Saunders emphasized the need for a mindset change for Zambia to develop.

He stated that cases of corruption involving national resources are disheartening because that money could help alleviate some of the challenges the country is currently facing.

Mr. Saunders called on President Hakainde Hichilema not to relent in the fight against corruption to improve Zambia’s status.

“When it comes to corruption, there is no room for sympathy, and all resources should be recovered. I urge the Zambian people to support this work without politicizing the process,” he said.

To achieve the desired goals for Zambia, Mr. Saunders urged the government to swiftly address economic corruption.

“Zambians are generally not corrupt, and it’s important to hold accountable both local and foreign individuals who engage in corrupt activities. Those who take bribes should face legal consequences, along with those who offer bribes.

We need strict laws and deportation orders to maintain order. It goes against our cultural values to engage in corruption,” he said.

This applies to civil servants working in the public service as well, who should work diligently and prioritize the interests of the country.

He further emphasized that it’s time to stop viewing issues through political lenses, as anything that hinders the country’s progress affects all citizens.

Mr. Saunders insisted that all those who have plundered resources should be condemned.

He commended President Hichilema for his stance on corruption, when he stated that his government will continue to combat past, present, and future corruption.

He stressed that tackling corruption requires urgency, accountability, and inclusivity, and that the equal application of the law to all citizens is essential to win the fight.
