Engaging stakeholders concerning economic and security issues remains a priority and that is why efforts are being made towards implementing inclusive policies, says Zambia Police (ZP) Assistant Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi.
Mr. Chilabi told The Scoop that ZP remained committed towards providing security for all citizens with the view to attain inclusive economic transformation and that this was why the institution had scaled up efforts aimed at addressing challenges arising from financial cybercrimes, counterfeit products, among others.
He said that financial cyber-related crimes and the existence of counterfeit products had a negative impact on the growth of the economy and that this is why deliberate measures were being directed against such activities.
“Ensuring inclusive economic transformation calls for inclusive policing. As Zambia Police, we will continue providing security for all. This is an essential service that enhances economic activities because without security, no economic activity would take place. So we are looking at the maintenance of law and order in the country with the view to attain economic growth,” Mr. Chilabi said.
“In relation to the economic activities, we have strengthened efforts aimed at fighting financial cybercrimes, counterfeit products in food production, medicine, among others, including ensuring law and order in the transport sector,” he added.
He said that the police had an open door policy that encouraged stakeholder consultation regarding economic activities and that stakeholders should embrace, interact and partner with the institution for economic growth purposes.
He said that upholding rights of citizens was of national importance as it helped create a conducive environment for more citizens to participate in economic activities where human rights for all are respected.
