Body Builder, Nelson Chabota, of Kabwata Body Building and Fitness Gymnasium retained the Mr. Zambia bodybuilding and fitness title, now called the Zed Nationals, after beating 13 other finalists in a tight contest held on Friday, at Government Complex in Lusaka.
Chabota put up an impressive performance to outwit his opponents in front of cheering spectators that included Ministry of Youths, Sports and Arts Permanent Secretary, Kangwa Chileshe as guest of honor and Pamusasa Real Estate CEO Saili Phiri as special guest to be crowned champion for the second time, and cemented his legacy as Zambia’s number one body builder.
Chabota walked home among other prizes a 30×30 plot at 10 miles area worth 30, 000 Kwacha courtesy of Pamusasa Real Estate, certificate of participation, trophy and medal. The runner-up position went to William “Machine” Sichone of Matero gym, while Enoch “Rambo” Chanda of Kabwata Gymnasium came out third with James “Buffalo” Chakaleka of Universal gym scooping the fourth position.
Speaking in an interview, Pamusasa Real Estate company CEO and proprietor, Saili Phiri, said the event served as a reminder of what can be achieved through dedication, discipline and hardwork. Mr. Phiri commended the Zambia Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (ZBBFF) for successfully hosting this year’s event and that the Real Estate company will continue to partner with the bodybuilding federation to enhance the promotion and presence of the sport across Zambia.
“As dedicated supporters of local sports, I want to say it here that we will continue with this partnership with ZBBFF so as to help enhance the promotion and presence of the bodybuilding sport across Zambia. For me the event served as a reminder of what can be achieved through dedication, discipline and hardwork. My call goes to the youths to take keen interest in bodybuilding which not only promotes physical fitness but also improves one’s life skills like goal-setting, time management, resilience, perseverance and leadership”
Others who were awarded Friday night include Mandevu Gymnasm Chairman, Paul Tembo, with the ‘Chairman of the year’ award and Jonas “holy beast” Sikaonga of Matero gym as ‘Most Improved Athlete’ 2023.
