CONCERNS raised by motorists that the automated speed cameras are capturing them wrongly is being addressed, the Road transport and safety (RTSA) has said.
RTSA head public relations manager MukelaMangolwa said the agency was addressing the concerns involving the incorrect information captured by the automated speed cameras in Lusaka.
Mr Mangolwa told The Scoop in an interview that the agency had received complaints from the members of the public that speed cameras were capturing incorrect information.
“We are aware that some motorists complained of being captured incorrectly, but my appeal is that those that feel they were captured wrongly can come to RTSA offices so that they can be helped.
“Secondly, last week our team were in Shimabala, Chilanga and Msisi to resolve some of these issues that were raised concerning the speed cameras, and we are dealing with the case one by one to sort out the concerns,” Mr Mangolwa said.
He however advised all those with concerns to go through the RATSA offices so that their issues could be resolved amicably.
Mr. Mangolwa explained that once the motorist had been captured by the camera they received a notification instantly, adding that they should get in touch with RTSA if wrongly captured.
He however stated that the Agency would ensure that it protected pedestrians from being killed on the roads by some speeding vehicles.
Mr. Mangolwa noted that the road accidents had reduced following the installation of speed cameras as motorists were cautious on the road.
