THE Government should come up with strategies that unlock maximum private sector potential to fully absorb the jobless, Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ) president Jackson Silavwe has said.
Mr. Silavwe said it was not possible for the Government to employ everybody because its workforce was already bloated.
He said the solution to Zambia’s high unemployment rates was in the private sector.
He said close to 8 million Zambians were unemployed and in the informal sector.
Mr Silavwe said unfortunately, Zambia’s private sector lacked the capacity to absorb the jobless.
He also charged that the large companies were mostly owned by foreigners who are preoccupied with getting money out of Zambia, leaving the indigenous citizens poorer.
Mr Silavwe further said that the cost of doing business in the private sector in Zambia was high
He said some of the solutions included radical youth led and based private sector and taking maximum advantage of the youthful population.
Mr Silavwe however said the private sector in Zambia, must be in the forefront in translating jobless graduates and people of working age into employment.
