THERE is a need for President Hakainde Hichilema to quickly diffuse the ever-growing Barotse Royal Establishment insurgency before it gets out of hand, Nkoya Royal Establishment (NRE) member David Tamboka has charged.
Mr. Tamboka, in an interview, said that the BRE secessionists had even placed a billboard at Nalyele junction in Kaoma calling for their freedom.
He said the head of state needed to act swiftly because these calls would degenerate into something big if nothing was done about it.
“It is shocking that these people even have the audacity to put a billboard at Nalyele junction to support the secession of the BRE, which, to me, is very unfortunate,” he said.
He said that the head of state needed to put his foot down and put a stop to this before the matter went out of hand.
He said that he was happy that the Kuomboka went on peacefully and that it was good to see the head of state attending despite not being the guest of honor.
He said the head of state showed humility and that he needed to be respected for his stance because it showed that indeed he was a leader.
He said that the NRE was not happy with the BRE’s insistence on trying to secede from mainland Zambia because the country was a sovereign state.
“We should not entertain this idea of a certain group of people trying to break away from the rest of the country,” he said.
