FORMER president Edgar Lungu should realize that people of Zambia cannot vote for him back into power because their memories on how they were mistreated and brutalized by cadres are still fresh, United Party for National Development (UPND) Lusaka province chairman Obvious Mwaliteta has said.
In an interview, Mr. Mwaliteta said it was sad that the former president had decided to reduce himself to cheap politicking, despite the rejection from the Zambian people during the 2021 general elections.
Mr. Mwaliteta has however advised the people of Zambia not to take Mr. Lungu seriously, but to concentrate on the good things the UPND Government was doing for them, adding that Mr. Lungu has failed to accept the 2021 general elections results because he never saw it coming.
He added that the challenges that people of Zambia were facing today were created by Mr. Lungu and his Government for the misuse and misappropriation of the public funds.
He said President Lungu was a big joker especially that he could not realize that his Government left this country in a big mess which had now seen the majority Zambians suffering.
“President Lungu should not be taken seriously even if he led this country for seven years which was full of suffering and pain and he should stop lying to himself so that he can be voted back into power. Let him just concentrate on other things and stop misleading the people of Zambia,” Mr. Mwaliteta said.
He recalled that Mr. Lungu when in power was toothless and had no control over the behaviour of cadres when people were being attacked and harassed adding that he expected Mr. Lungu to be the ambassador of peace and uniting the nation which he divided during his tenure of office.
He said it was so shameful that the former president had continued telling lies that Zambians were still subjected to anarchy and suppression when in fact not.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mwaliteta has described President Hakainde Hichilema’s performance as exceptional, despite the challenges the country was facing which he said will be a thing of the past in due course.
He urged the people of Zambia to continue praying for President Hichilema and his Government as they worked tirelessly to grow the economy and improve the livelihoods of all Zambians especially the poor.
“People of Zambia’ did not make a mistake not to vote for HH. Most of his election campaign promises are already being fulfilled, so it is very sad to see the former president start going around and inciting people to call for early elections which can never happen,” he said.
