CENTER for Family Health Research in Zambia (CFHRZ) says it is taking a comprehensive approach to address the HIV epidemic by examining new infections and investigating vaccines.
Speaking during the Media Science Cafe Engagement, Executive Director Centre for Family Health Research in Zambia, William Kilembe said this was to understand how effective vaccines are against different virus strains, adding that this research is crucial, especially in regions with the highest HIV rates.
Dr. Kilembe emphasized that vaccine research is crucial in combating HIV and scientists, researchers, and doctors must work together to make a difference.
She noted that developing an HIV vaccine is a Complex challenge due to the virus’s incredible diversity, stating that diversity makes it difficult for scientists to create a vaccine that can effectively target and neutralize all strains of the virus.
He emphasized the importance of virus characterization in developing effective vaccines, which can target multiple strains of viruses, including HIV.
“There is a need to address structural barriers limiting access to Family Planning Services, stating that these barriers can be significant, preventing millions globally from accessing quality Family planning care each year,” Dr. Kilembe said.
