OPPOSITION Patriotic Front (PF) says its Members of Parliament (MPs) who are praising the United Party for Nation Development (UPND) are wolves in sheep skins who have nothing to offer but simply playing politics of the belly for personal aggrandisement.

In an interview with The Scoop, PF Member of the Central Committee (MCC) Kebby Mbewe warned the UPND against getting carried away by some PF Members of Parliament members who were parading themselves for hire saying some of these “political prostitutes” inherited these bootlicking antics from the MMD where they came from before joining the PF.

Mr. Mbewe said PF members had learnt a lesson on certain politicians that were shamelessly jumping from one party to the other when it suited them as they had no integrity and principles and added no value to the political dispensation.

“Some politicians are only prostitutes in this game and that is why they are flocking where they can fatten their accounts and live in their comfort zones. Beware of these MPs. Some of these members came from MMD and later joined PF and now they are rushing to UPND. It is a sign that they are not there to serve the people of this country. They are there to serve the interests of their families and themselves and if the UPND are going to tolerate certain MPs that are knocking on their door to look for jobs, they will be ditched in the same way they are ditching the PF.

“I think UPND has a very good opportunity to learn from us, the PF. We know people who are genuine now and we know those who are not genuine and I can tell you that some of the MPs who are today championing the UPND’s cause do not mean well because what they want is to continue having the comfort of leadership,” Mr. Mbewe warned.

Mr. Mbewe urged the UPND to be alert to some MPs and some members of the opposition that had been pretending to love the New Dawn Government.

“Where were they when UPND was in opposition for 20 years? If I was a UPND member, I would have not allowed these MPs to join the party. I can assure you that those are traitors you are welcoming. The way they have abandoned PF now is the same way they will abandon UPND when they leave office at a certain point because the leadership of the belly in this country should stop. Politics are not only done in the ruling party; they should also happen in the opposition.

“In fact, the opposition is very important because it speaks for the people of Zambia especially the underprivileged. So why are the MPs running to UPND? It means they have no integrity and principles. These are the same characters that have continued to mock other political parties because they have no direction,” he said.

He said the PF members joining UPND spoke highly of the Constitutional Development Fund (CDF) and the UPND leadership yet they were wolves in their hearts.

“These characters are wolves in their hearts but pretending to be sheep outside. The UPND leadership should not tolerate such kind of citizens because they do not mean well. UPND has a lot of members to adopt and work with especially those that suffered with it. Ignore these MPs that are pretending today to be holy to you. This is my political advice for the UPND Government because I am speaking from experience,” he said.
