To promote and support women’s career advancement within the bank, Access Bank Zambia has launched the Access Women’s Network (AWN), a platform to empower female employees as part of the Bank’s larger commitment to foster inclusivity and diversity. Additionally, the initiative will empower women through mentorship, leadership development, and conduct community engagement.
Speaking during the launch of the initiative recently, Access Bank Zambia Board Chairperson Anne Sampa emphasized the significance of the AWN as a transformative force for both the bank and the wider community.
“The empowerment of women is no longer just a social cause – it is a business imperative. The Access Women’s Network represents a bold, strategic initiative to ensure women within Access Bank have the support and resources to thrive. As a Board, we are committed to ensuring that AWN succeeds in fostering an environment where women are empowered, valued, and given the opportunity to lead—not because of their gender, but because of their undeniable ability and potential,” Ms. Sampa stated.
She further noted that AWN is not only about advancing career opportunities for women but also about creating meaningful community impact. Through AWN, women will engage in various community-focused initiatives, using their skills and resources, demonstrating Access Bank’s commitment to uplifting the communities it serves.
Speaking at the same function, Access Bank Zambia Executive Director Helen Lunda, highlighted the critical role that AWN will play in promoting collaborative thinking and career development.
“The Access Women’s Network is designed to be more than a platform for women to network; it is a community that fosters collaboration, learning, and personal growth. Through mentorship programmes and cluster groups, women at Access Bank will have the tools and guidance they need to advance their careers, manage workplace challenges, and step confidently into leadership roles. Our mission also extends into the broader community, where our women will actively contribute to supporting the less privileged,” she remarked.
And Access Bank Group Deputy Managing Director Chizoma Okoli urged the women to be at the forefront of supporting, empowering, and elevating their counterparts within the Bank and outside.
AWN provides women the opportunity to connect with professionals across industries, access mentorship, and gain the skills necessary to excel in their careers and personal lives. The initiative’s focus on leadership training and personal development aims to empower women to navigate the complexities of work-life balance and position themselves for growth in their respective fields.
The launch of AWN marks a pivotal moment in Access Bank Zambia’s journey towards creating a more inclusive and equitable work environment. The bank remains committed to supporting women in leadership, and AWN will serve as a critical platform for ensuring that female employees are equipped to take on leadership roles within the organization and beyond.
