CROP diversification is the way to go in combating climate change, Zambezi Seed Corporate Affairs Director, Evans Ng’oma has charged.
Speaking to The Scoop, Mr. Ng’oma said there was a need to include traditional grains with the cropping cycle as a way of providing sustainable alternatives.
Mr. Ng’oma has since encouraged farmers and the general public to embrace the drought tolerant varieties from Zambezi Seed, adding the seed supplying company had two maize varieties with positive characteristics for good yield and drought tolerance.
He explained that the seed grew well under drought conditions and was a purely local variety.
Mr. Ng’oma has since invited entrepreneurs to consider exhibiting at this year’s Agriculture and Commercial Show, to showcase their products.
He added that exhibiting products and services was key for every institution as it placed them in a position of visibility and potential business with other companies and individual businesses.
He explained that the show was an opportunity for citizens to learn about Climate Smart Crop Varieties.
Zambia will be commemorating its 96th Agricultural and Commercial Show under the theme: Creating a Competitive Future.
