THE self-praise coming from the New Dawn Government is not inspiring to majority citizens and if not stopped, might cost the United Party for National Development (UPND) come 2026, Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Central Committee (MCC) Chishimba Kambwili has warned.

Mr. Kambwili told The Scoop that he was not comfortable with the UPND administration’s alleged self-praise on what it had done for the Zambians in the past two years, especially the claim that the party had done a lot for Zambians.

He was of the view that the self-praise was not aligning well with the constant concerns arising from the Zambians which he said indicated that there was something wrong that needed to be addressed.

“Self-praise is bad. It should not be normal for the UPND Government to always talk about the development it has done and comparing it with what PF did. Let the people themselves be the ones to give the praise and not vice versa,” Mr. Kambwili said.

He said that the daily highlighting of the good that the UPND has done for Zambians was not helping matters hence the need to change the type of leadership.

He said that leadership was about improving the standards of the people and ensuring that the people themselves spoke for themselves if truly their welfare had been improved.

He said that in a case where citizens failed to give credit where development was claimed to have been achieved, then that should be a challenge that needed to be addressed.

“If people are failing to live better and if they cannot afford basic commodities, then all the micro performance data being provided cannot be appreciated by the people,” he said.

He further appealed to the New Dawn Government to become factual to the people of Zambia and not sugar-coat issues affecting the majority citizens.

He said that issues such as exchange rates and other pertinent national issues should be communicated to citizens in the most transparent and truthful manner with the view to instil confidence in the people.
