POLITICAL Analyst Wesley Miyanda has called on the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) to immediately choose a leader ahead of the 2026 General Elections if it is to pose any relevant challenge to the ruling and other opposition political parties.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Miyanda said UKA must come up with a flagbearer who will guide the alliance to the General Elections.
He said the leader UKA must pick should have interest of the people at heart and not drive their selfish agenda.
“We are still encouraging UKA to go ahead with its plan of putting up leadership and the whole managerial system because that should be part of the organisation that should continue providing checks and balances,” Mr. Miyanda said.
He added: “This is a democratic country where we are embracing many people to come on board and form political parties just to continue providing credible checks and balances to the running Government.”
He said UKA should not be allowed to crumble because most alliances had crumbled because of leadership wrangles.
He said UKA must survive so that it contributes to the governance system of the country.
“I hope and trust that UKA will not be allowed to fail like any other alliances that we have seen in the past because so many challenges have been seen especially on leadership where people start fighting to lead that particular organisation and at the end of the day, it crumbles,” he said.
