COMMON Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Secretary General Chileshe Kapwepwe says COMESA considers inclusiveness as a critical element for economic transformation in all member states.
Ms Kapwepwe says inclusiveness will ensure that no member state is left behind from participating and benefiting from the development processes.
She said this in Lusaka when she received the letter of credence from EvelyneButoyi, who is Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi to the Republic of Zambia and Permanent representative to COMESA.
Ms Kapwepwe disclosed that COMESA is at a critical time in terms of the implementation of the Free Trade Area as well as the Medium Term Strategic Plan 2021-2025 which aims to create a more integrated, competitive and prosperous common market.
She accepted Ms Butoyi’s letter of credence and accredited her to the list of Permanent Representatives to COMESA, further assuring her of COMESA’s support as she carries out her new role.
And Ms Butoyi said her most ardent wish is to see COMESA become a large, effective economic community whose main goal is to achieve ultimate objectives without fail.
She promised to work with other member states in making the COMESA region a better, productive and considerable institution.
