I SWEAR to the living God I can run this country better than President Hakainde Hichilema because I have run the Government institutions before, opposition Economic Front president Wynter Kabimba has said.

Speaking to the Scoop, Mr. Kabimba said the fact that he had worked in Government and run a ministry was enough for him to run the country because he had more experience compared to President Hichilema who he said had never run any government institution and that as a result of his inexperience, this is why the country was facing challenges.

Asked why he was fired by Michael Sata if he had all the qualities he was bragging about and the experience of being in the Government, Mr. Kabimba said that did not matter adding that despite being fired from the Patriotic Front (PF) Government as Minister of Justice, he had the experience to run and stabilize the country’s economic.

“I may have been fired in the previous regime but that is because there was something wrong between the appointing authority and myself, not because I am a problem and cannot be a leader. I have the leadership skills and I know the cries of the Zambians and given the chance and an opportunity to be in the Government, this country would be a better place for everyone,” he said.

He said the economy was an eyesore for every Government as it was what determined the livelihood of citizens and that the management of the economy should be the first priority to the Government.

“We have a problem in Zambia where those that are in power are the ones that beat the drum that the economy is working and delivering. It must be the people that are at the receiving end of the performance of the economy that should say the economy is delivering. The deliverables from the economy must get feedback from those the economy is structured to serve who are the ordinary people on the street.

“It is neither an exaggeration nor politicking to say that the economy today is worse than it was one year ago and even worse than it was three years ago in terms of what it is intended to deliver and uplift the lives of the ordinary people. This does not sit very well with the UPND because they are priding themselves in saying they have structured this economy and they are claiming it is doing better than it was in the past Government but that is not true,” he said.
