UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Lusaka Province Chairperson Obvious Mwaliteta says it appears that the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership is not with former President Edgar Lungu in the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA).

And Mwaliteta says the UPND is not scared of UKA because it is an association of political failures.

Speaking in an interview with The Scoop, Mr Mwaliteta, the former Lusaka Province Minister in the PF Government said Mr. Lungu was in UKA because he wanted to find sympathy and comfort from his drinking mates.

“Actually, Bwana ECL doesn’t know where to get comfort.  He is looking for comfort. He is looking for people to comfort him. He is looking for drinking mates; people to wine with. So, he has found a team whom he can drink with. You know that those (UKA) leaders drink. So, they are drinking together,” Mr. Mwaliteta said.

He said among the PF members, it was only Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba and Mr. Lungu who are visible in UKA.

“That man (Mr. Lungu) and ba Emmanuel Mwamba…we all know who Emmanuel is. He was at one point my Permanent Secretary when I was a Minister in Western Province. I understand the man very well. I know him very well. He wants to be on top of things even when there is nothing on top. So, they are loners and that is why they found themselves stranded in that UKA which is five steps forward and 10 steps backwards,” he said.

And Mr Mwaliteta said the ruling UPND does not consider UKA a threat because the people of Zambia have come to appreciate the works of President Hakainde Hichilema.

He said the people leading UKA like Mr. Lungu ran down the Zambian economy in the seven years they were in power hence, the alliance was inconsequential and could not be trusted by the Zambian people.

“We are not going to be scared of failures. Those are political failures. The combination of the people who are under UKA; that man, Sakwiba Sikota, who doesn’t know Sakwiba Sikota in this country? At that age, what has he achieved politically? Nothing! Ba ECL ba mudala, he had seven years of destruction, Harry Kalaba ran away  from the destruction of PF after destroying it himself and in order not to be part of that destruction, he started his own thing. Saboi (Imboela) is a political failure. She wanted to stand in Kafue but failed and ran away.

“She wanted to go and inherit the political party, kaya nichani chija chipani chaba Chishimba Kambwili (National Democratic Congress) Baja benangu ba mummy ba mu(that other one, our mother in New Heritage Party )Ms. Chishala Kateka), I don’t know whether she was told that when you are in politics you are going to be receiving a little bit of money and now she has realised that she has to come as a group and start making noise to be relevant,”  he said.
