PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has great potential to transform Zambia and eradicate ill forms of corruption in the country, the African Democratic Decree alliance has said.
Speaking to The Scoop, Alliance Coordinator Malikopo Kasanga said that Zambians should strive to put political differences aside and begin to appreciate efforts being made by the current Head of State.
He pointed to the previous corruption and other ill acts of governance during the previous regime as something that needed to be thoroughly investigated as a way of Zambia setting a good example against corruption not only locally, but on the entire continent.
He emphasized the need for African countries to work together to combat all forms of corruption, dictatorship type of leadership, among other ill forms of governance that deprived citizens of the benefits from their natural resources.
He further commended the Head of State for showing Ubuntu by extending an olive branch to Patriotic Front {PF) Member of the Central Committee (MCC) Chishimba Kambwili to be evacuated outside the country for specialist treatment despite him being a critic of the current Government owing to the differences in political ideologies and viewpoints.
“President Hakainde Hichilema has shown so much political will to transform Zambia, looking at where we are coming from the previous regime that had so much malpractice. HH has potential to unify the country. This can be seen from how he quickly responded to Chishimba Kambwili to have him evacuated outside the country,” Mr. Kasanga said.
He further noted that the political comeback of former Head of State Edgar Lungu should not be tolerated but ensure that all the illegalities he tolerated under his Government were investigated.
He said that the former Head of State should consider apologising to Zambians as they are still hurting from the illegalities perpetrated leading to lives being lost.
He said that it was very unfortunate that Zambians went through a lot of governance malpractices that not only destabilized the economy, but also dented the country’s reputation.
