YOUTHS should stop complaining about the high cost of living on social media but start utilizing available opportunities to better their lives, UPND deputy national youth Chairperson Trevor Mwinde has advised.
Speaking to The Scoop, Mr. Mwinde said the young people in Zambia should stop complaining and focus on the available opportunities made by the government to improve their livelihoods.
“We have a number of opportunities in this country that many youths can jump on and improve their lives unlike always waiting for employment from the government. Some of the opportunities that young people can leverage on are many such as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC),” Mr. Mwinde
He said the UPND administration had created an enabling environment for the young people to thrive by allowing them to apply for capital for their businesses.
“Youths should not just sit idle and always complain about the high cost of living but they should ensure they apply for capital and start up a business or boost their business. By becoming entrepreneurs and businessmen and women they create job opportunities for their fellow youths in the country,” he said.
Mr. Mwinde has further advised the Zambian youths against being used by selfish politiciansfor violent activities.
“Youths should not be victims of political violence and should not be used by selfish politicians who are just there to use them for their selfish motives. They are just there to drag you into violence instead of helping you.
Let us find something to put our hands on and ask for the government’s support through CDF, CEEC and through our parents who received their NAPSA partial withdrawal. Let us not go back to the days when we had confusion in the country, confusion of axes and machetes, let us not go back to the days of caderism,” he said.
He urged the youths to fully participate in all opportunities made available by the government and create employment for fellow youths adding that this would contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.
