THE Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Art must step in to see the way forward for Zambian football before it is too late, football administrator Damiano Mutale has charged.
In an interview, Mutale has demanded for an immediate resignation of Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga saying he is the reason behind the current poor performance of the Zambia national soccer teams.
He says the Government should take a keen interest to find out the reason behind the failing standards of Zambian football by the national teams adding that it is sad that things are worsening yet people that should have corrected the situation are just watching.
“It’s only here in Zambia where we see things going wrong in football but we are just watching. In South Africa, the Minister of Sports warned the country’s FA of being fired if the national teams continued giving negative results. That is how it is supposed to be. We can’t continue watching,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mutale charged that the performance of the Zambia national teams under the current Football Association of Zambia executive has been a disaster.
“The current FAZ has brought embarrassment in football and we will not just sit down and watch. If the current administration continues, next year, we will have a disaster in football. We need to bring back the old glory days,” he said.
